Textures of November
Spun sugar clouds at sunrise and sunset. Snow lingering in the morning shadows. Woodpeckers dancing up and down branches. Going to bed earlier. The duck pond glazed over, frozen just for the morning. Deer fleeing into the cornfields. Cobwebs revealed in the winter sun.

A photo from our local bikepacking trip was shared on Bikepacking.com in the Weekend Snapshot!
I went to a city council meeting to comment on cycling infrastructure, and my testimony was featured in the local news. This is my plug for calling your rep, speaking up at meetings, and sending that email!
Food we madeÂ
We were gifted 40lbs of apples, so we made: Apple crisp // apple sauce // apple butter // apple latkes
Orzo and fennel pesto with roasted root veggies & tofu. I used oyster sauce instead of anchovies in the pesto. This is a great way to reduce food waste when using just a fennel bulb—I kept the pesto in the freezer until inspiration struck.

December IntentionsÂ
Put my fat bike to good use. Plan the 2024 adventure calendar. Bake bread. Actually finish the sweater. Use more candles and lamps. Nightly snow dances. Rest.
I am going to take an end-of-year break from writing! I will see you back here in 2024. Thanks so much for reading this little blog. I’m wishing you blue-sky-days and abundant adventure to end the year.
Happy Trails!
